Yes, Bucky was married on his birthday, today in 1917, to Anne Hewitt, the daughter of a man who became a mentor to Bucky. He died on July 1, 1983 at his dying wife’s bedside. Bucky’s own dad died when he was just fifteen, which may have been a factor in Bucky’s teenage rebellion. He was expelled from Harvard twice, and then later circled all the way to to become Harvard’s poetry chair. Bucky is proof of an individual’s ability to turn his life around!
