Getting the Design Science Decade Underway at Last

469714_10151206856847909_1314026174_oSince Buckminster Fuller worked fifty years ahead of time, the world may finally be ready for his Design Science Decade, originally planned for 1965 – 1975.

The original document detailing this plan is now digitized and  available free online.

Some of the opening paragraphs are so prescient as to take your breath away, both because of the potential for our species to come together in pursuit of something better, and because fifty years has passed yet we seem even farther away from the goal than back then.

Posting this to mark the inauspicious occasion of a new U.S. president being sworn in, in hopes our forward progress, what little there may have been in recent decades, can continue. God bless America, and please wake it up. We’re smarter than this.

I love speaking about ideas for achieving humanity’s success, which were passed on to me in 1982 by American genius Buckminster Fuller. Bucky’s ideas and integrities reflect subtle shifts in thinking necessary to help humanity find a more sustainable path to the future. Or at least to know we were leaning in the right direction.
